Surfing Competition Boosts Tourism for Prevelly Caravan Park

Every year around March-April, the 2014 Drug Aware Margaret River Pro is held at Surfers Point in Margaret River. The competition has been running for nearly 40 years now, and each year brings an influx of tourists to the area.

Top surfers from around the world compete in this coveted, internationally televised competition. And conveniently nestled just alongside Surfers Point is Prevelly Caravan Park. 

Held this year between April 2 and 13, the competition provided a booking frenzy for the park, as people locked in a stay at this convenient and bustling spot for the duration.

This year, the competition saw the world’s top 36 men and 18 female surfers flock to Surfers Point for the epic battle. The likes of current world champions Mick Fanning and Carissa Moore, local legend Taj Burrows and 11-time world champion Kelly Slater took part.

Margaret River is famed for its powerful breaks and attracts surfers to Surfers Point all year round. The area’s legendary surfing status, immortalised and publicised by the annual competition, keeps the area in high demand with surfers throughout Australia and beyond.
